Why Conventional Orthotics Have Been Solving the Wrong Problem

For decades, the insole and orthotic industry has operated under a single assumption: the foot needs to be corrected and protected. Arch support, shock absorption, cushioning, and structural correction remain the foundations of conventional products—from custom orthotics to performance and mass-market insoles.

The problem is not that these products fail to provide comfort. Many do. The problem is what repeated passive support conditions the foot to do—or, more precisely, what it no longer asks the foot to do.

The Passive Support Paradigm — and Why It Backfires

The human foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, over 100 muscles and tendons, and approximately 200,000 sensory nerve endings — more mechanoreceptors per unit area than almost anywhere else in the body.
